While offices refuge to online platforms and remote working becoming increasingly common, the built-in webcams we have are having a hard time catching up home office standards.
The Revi is a small, pill-shaped device that’s designed to sit on your desk - or on your computer - and let you communicate with a team member, or even your boss, while you’re working from home. Revi, a device with a built-in camera and sound system. It’s tiny, has a simplistic design, but still manages to achieve its goal of letting you get work done.
By using a combination of noise cancellation and Google Assistant, Revi is capable of blasting out a good sound while letting you talk to a team member.
In my design process, I started with finding and disassembling a webcam to understand the components and how much space do I need. I figured out that mechanical closures give users a better sense of safety by working closely with the focus group.
Having a sound system and a camera-microphone combo lets the users work seamlessly. Revi alerts the user when there's a meeting and waits for user to place it on top of their laptop. No more panicking to pause that 80s disco music of yours to enter a meeting, Revi is built for you!
Revi contains of three main materials: suede for the label, mesh cloth for speaker cover and polycarbonate for the body.
Revi is placed on top of the laptop screen with its gap underneath the camera. It aligns with the users face since it's higher than the laptop's built-in camera. When Revi is not being used as a camera, it can be rotated back to its closed state and used as a speaker to enjoy every other moment.
With expandable middle part, there’s no monitor there Revi cannot fit. Revi extends smoothly instead of snappy, resulting a better securing for all pc and monitors.
